Digital TV over Fibre
Multichoice has embraced the next generation of delivering digital television signals over fibre optic infrastructure. This is part of their multi-dwelling unit approach to delivering their traditional broadcast to their decoder product. The product we provide is a localised dedicated fibre network using passive optical network (PON) architecture to deliver TV signals to individual homes and businesses. This fibre optic network is completely separate from the data network and only transmits the digital TV signals to a specialised (GTU) unit installed at the TV point. A traditional decoder is then connected to this device.
This PON network links to a centralised communal dish where it receives the digital TV signals to trasmit into the system. This technology works with all types of digital television and can be used with free to air decoders, as well as DSTV’s digital decoders.
